Nathan Jones
Elite Performance Consultant | RAF Combat Pilot | Mental Fitness Expert
Nathan Jones is a world-renowned mental fitness expert whose life story spans the extremes of human endurance—from international rugby pitches and frontline combat missions to a miraculous survival that saved 200 lives. As the co-founder of Peak State Mental Fitness, Nathan now translates the high-stakes lessons of the cockpit into actionable strategies for global corporations and elite athletes.
The Story: Resilience Under Fire
Nathan’s journey is defined by the "Ultimate Human Factor." A multi-sport international athlete for Wales and Great Britain, he transitioned from professional rugby to the Royal Air Force, flying critical missions over Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan.
In 2014, while en route to Camp Bastion, Nathan’s aircraft entered a catastrophic high-speed dive. Despite suffering a broken back and neck when thrown against the cockpit ceiling, Nathan regained control of the aircraft. His composure under extreme duress saved all 200 souls on board. After years of grueling rehabilitation, Nathan defied medical odds to become a multi-medal-winning athlete at the Invictus Games, eventually launching a global movement to redefine proactive mental health.
Dancing on the ceiling
When pinned to the roof of a diving aeroplane, hurtling at nearly the speed of sound into the sea, split second decisions make the difference between life or death. Hear the story of a former Royal Air Force pilot, who broke his back whilst saving the lives of nearly 200 people in Afghanistan and the rollercoaster recovery journey that followed.

Human Factors - How human factors and cognitive psychology are best used in the workplace.
Human factors principles aim to understand the 'fit' between an employee, their equipment and the surrounding environment, which can include learning styles, behaviours and values, leadership, teamwork, the design of equipment and processes, communication and organisational culture. As a human factor’s practitioner, risk consultant and through a career of high performance environments, Nathan combines military training with real life experience to provide take away skills and advice for your company.
Mental Health - Changing the conversation
After being diagnosed with PTSD after a flying incident in Afghanistan, Nathan uses his own lived experiences to try to explain the complexities of mental ill-health, de-stigmatise the perseptions around it and change the conversation into post traumatic growth.
